Locust – are a collection of certain species of short-horned grasshoppers in the family Acrididae that have a swarming phase. These insects are usually solitary, but under certain circumstances they become more abundant and change their behavior and habits, becoming gregarious. Salt Lake’s presiding authorities are proclaiming (promoting; preaching) Sorcery, as a means to change-the-course-of (convert; turn the heads of; impress; influence; capture the attention of) the “Men Of Your Houses”, (“heads of your households). They are determined to supplant (supersede; take the place of; exchange) Jehovah’s Old-Testament promise to Abraham * regarding this (our) generation of Israel’s people.
* Abraham –“One Man Through Whom to Bless the World”– Now, we arrive at a point in history which will prove to be of such tremendous
importance as to shape the course of the world both in this age and the age to come.
But, like many of God’s mustard-seed size actions, it is obscure and seemingly insignificant. It is the kind of action scarcely anyone would have thought of who wanted to redeem the world, reclaim creation from the curse of sin, and fill the earth with God’s glory.
God zeroes in on one man, Abram, a worshipper of false gods (Joshua 24:2,3) in the land of Ur, and says, with unbelievably far-reaching implications, “Go from your country (society)and your kindred (extended family) and your father’s ancestral house (dynasty; bloodline; lineage; line of hereditary rulers) the land (society) that I will show you.
And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse, and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:1-3). In completely sovereign grace God comes to this undeserving idolater and says, with life-creating authority, “I am going to bless you, and through you bring blessing to the whole world.” And with that begins the history of the people of Israel.
God first removes Abraham from his father’s house-thereby establishing Himself as Abram’s father. Then he also promises Abram an inheritance. Abram was the firstborn of Terah and therefore would have expected to receive the blessing and birthright of the firstborn. But God calls Abram to be his son, and to look for an inheritance (birthright) from Him. Therefore God also gives him a new name-Abraham, the father of a multitude. And as Paul tells us in Romans 4:13, the promised inheritance was not merely a piece of real estate in the middle east, but consisted of the whole world. The fact that Paul says that Abraham was promised the inheritance of the whole world ought to convince us once and for all that Abraham is indeed a son of God. He is no longer merely the firstborn of Terah, he is now the firstborn son of God. The point here is that Jehovah’s covenant with Abraham extends to include, especially, this latter-day generation of Abraham’s posterity (descendants; Israelites; rank and file Mormons) and, remember…… Jehovah’s covenant with Abraham is not just hereditary….it’s IRREVOCABLE!!

* Surety – bondsman – one who becomes responsible for another, in the sense of security or pledge for a person or group of persons.–
This means that one person or (in the context of Isaiah’s indictment) one group (group #1) may become security for another (group #2), that such a one (group #1) will do a certain thing at a time in the future.
Judah was “surety” to his father Jacob that Benjamin would safely return from Egypt (Genesis 43:9). He pledged his life that the younger brother would return safely. He tells Joseph (Genesis 44:32) how he had become surety for Benjamin, and offers to become Joseph’s slave for the sake of his brother. Job says (Job 17:3), “Give now a pledge, be surety for me with thyself; who is there that will strike hands with me?” The “Striking-of-Hands” refers to the (reaching of an agreement),i.e. an action or gesture by which the surety or pledge was publicly manifested and thus ratified.
Job, (Job 17:3), beseeches God to become surety for him, to pledge him that sometime in the future He will cause Job’s innocence to be made known and be acknowledged by God Himself. In Isaiah 38:14) Hezekiah says, “O Lord, I am oppressed, be thou my surety.” He wishes God to give him a pledge of some kind, to go security for him in such a way that he will surely be saved out of his sickness and distress. Jesus is called “the surety” (Greek “egguos”; “under good security” (as an adjective), “guarantee” (as a noun) of a better covenant” (Hebrews 7:22). Jesus is the pledge or surety that through Him we (his kindred; his blood relatives; his extended family; his people) may obtain the assurance and certainty that a more excellent covenant has been established by God, and are assured also of the truth of the promises connected with it.
